Micro-Ponds and Hoverfly Lagoons

Micro-Ponds and Hoverfly Lagoons

We often say if you could only do one thing in your garden for wildlife add water….  This workshop will enable you to do at least two things, one add water the other give an important and under-appreciated pollinator the breed habitat it needs.

Micro-ponds are a fabulous addition to any garden, even if you already have a pond.  You can dedicate a specific pond for a specific purpose, spread them around your garden, or support insects with fresh water sources, in the right circumstances you’ll even get newts and maybe frogs.  Join us to find out how to create this variety.

Hoverflies are a fantastic way to inspire children to get involved with wildlife, specifically insects.  They don’t sting, or bite, there are lots of them to spot, they are fantastic mimics of bees, flies and even hornets.  Hoverflies are fabulous pollinators, however, about 50% require stagnant water for their breeding ground.  Come and find out how to make a hoverfly lagoon
