SUMMARY:Next Steps in Gardening for Wildlife
DESCRIPTION:Understanding life cycles of the wildlife in our gardens is critical when we’re planning what to do\, what to add\, and what to change each year.  With this theme in mind\, we will use our structure of Food\, Shelter and Water to explore what you have in your garden and what you could do next to understand and support that wildlife. We’ll also explore a practical monitoring system\, which will help you with your decisions. \nThrough the workshop\, we explore these questions: \n\nWhat can we do to increase the amount of natural food for wildlife in our gardens?  From soil upwards\, what makes the most difference?\nHow do we provide natural shelter for wildlife that supports their life cycles? What part of their life cycles requires what shelter?\nHow much water and in what ways should we provide it?  Weather permitting\, this element will include a site visit to two gardens in the centre of Stroud to explore the power of micro ponds.\n\nThere will be plenty of time for you to discuss your own garden during the workshop.  You will be asked to do some homework before the workshop\, which will involve spending at least 15 minutes exploring and reminding yourself what you currently have in your garden.
