An Organic Slug Control

Thank you for signing up.  Stroud Brewery beer slops are now available for collection in Stroud. Each week when Stroud Brewery clears its lines they save us 60 litres of beer.  A volunteer bottles up about 30 litres and this is available by asking for it at the bar.  The remaining beer is taken to a locked cupboard in central Stroud and you can collect it from there at any time.  See the instructions below.  The beer is donated by Stroud Brewery, any donations will go towards covering Wild Stroud’s cost in setting up the project and covering volunteers’ expenses.  Please feel free to donate each time or to put in a lump sum to cover a few collections.  Scan the QR code or click here to donate

Castle Street

Collect from 2 Castle Villas, Castle Street, Stroud, GL5 2HP. As you come into the yard by the bins there is a cupboard with a combination lock on it. The beer is in the cupboard – the code is 20233. Please bring your own container. Pull the beer barrel slightly out of the cupboard, twist the nozzle down and open with the lever. Once full please twist the nozzle back up, push the barrel back in the cupboard and relock it. There is a donation box in the top of the cupboard or you can donate online using the QR on the donation box.

Stroud Brewery

Ask at the bar for Wild Stroud Beer slops. If you can take an empty 1 or 2-litre milk carton to swop for a full one that would help us. There are a limited number of bottles available each week.

We have a donation tin on the bar or you can donate using the QR code above.

Make your own trap

Use a one or 2-litre plastic milk bottle

  1. Make a hole as close to the handle as possible it at least 2/3 of the way up.  Making it here mean you can add the beer and still carry it in an upright position without spilling the beer
  2. If you have some gaffer tape put it over the cut edge, inside and out to make the edge smoother
  3. The cut should be as high as you can make it in the side, at least 2/3 of the way up.  This stops beetles and other insects getting into the beer.

Please keep checking to make such you are only trapping slugs and snails
