Looking after soil and composting

Looking after soil and composting

Join us for a practical, down-to-earth workshop all about creating healthier soil in your garden.  Whether you are growing food or just gardening for wildlife the quality of your soil is important. We’ll explore what good soil looks like, meet the worms and other tiny creatures that keep it alive and depend on it, and learn simple ways to improve soil structure and fertility. We’ll also cover easy composting methods to help you turn everyday waste into rich, garden-ready compost.  We will explore plants for different types of soil.

Topics

  • The role of fungi and bacteria in our soil
  • Worms, different types and how to increase activity
  • Other critters that rely on healthy soil
  • What type of soil do you have and how to look after it
  • Ways to compost

This is a classroom workshop with practical elements.
